my homie Alegria bought me
this crazy good Max Ernst book for my birthday:

'For Max Ernst, existence as an artist meant continuously dealing with his surroundings.
Like the many artists who influenced his work in a multitude of ways, Max Ernst also provided
crucial impulses to his own contemporaries as well as subsequent generations of artists.
As autodidact, he rejected the classic academic training of painters & in this regard
he was typical of an entire generation of young artists.
Although he was enthusiastic about art and had already been led to drawing as a young child
by his father, he first decided to approach art on a theoretical level.'

Photos of me, Aroha & our friends up in byronbay for new years
already feels like a million years ago
crazy night full of ghetto dancing, weird variety store accessories,
checking out bonfires at the beach, night swimming
and lying down on the sand staring at the moon

I was watching a Roxy Music documentary a few days ago
and I thought Iwould share some of the covers with you.
The dvd is worth a watch for anyone whose vaguely interested
or anyone who just wants to have a laugh at Bryan Ferry's hilarious chin.

Hard Boiled Wonderland & The End Of The World

Laura Tansini: In recent exhibition catalogues, your sculptures are

reproduced in an atmosphere of gothic horror.

Do you prefer to show your work in such unusual settings?

Nicola Bolla: I like staging my works because my

aim is to create a fantastic world parallel to the real one,

but I do not resent the antiseptic atmosphere of the white cube.

I think that the work’s strength and energy,

if it has any, defeat and conquer any space.

*

Does anyone know if the above installation
by Nicola Bolla is in any
way related to Haruki Murakami's book
'Hard Boiled Wonderland & The End Of The World' ?
I can't find much information on it anywhere!

I am a kind of paranoiac in reverse. I suspect people of plotting to make me happy

"What really knocks me out is a book that,
when you're all done reading it,
you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours
and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it.
That doesn't happen much, though."
